a| A long-ago vist to the industrial town of Charleroi, Belgium. The sole splash of colour in a row of desolate terraced houses looking out onto a factory complex: a bright poster sellotaped to a window, advertising a concert by the amusingly-names Elvis Junior. Back home in Brussels, i couldn't shake the incongruity of the image from my mind and determined to track down this intruiging figure. I finally managed to do so and carried out an afternoon-long interview with him, extracts of which were published in the Brussels weekly magazine The Bulletin in 2001. Many of the quotes stayed with me through the years and it was always my intention to <<do something>> with them. This is the result. (voorwoord)
