a| Wilhelm Valentin Volckmar (1812-1887) was a German organ virtuoso, music teacher and composer.

a| In 1835 he became a seminary music teacher in Homberg (Efze) in North Hesse. He became famous as an organ virtuoso, and in 1846 he was appointed Dr. h.c. and in 1886 professor. During his lifetime, Volckmar was famous as an organist, especially because of his masterful pedal playing, but also as an improviser and theoretician. He maintained friendly relations with Franz Liszt, who also arranged for a papal asucription. Because of his numerous instrumental pedagogical works, he was also called the also called the "Czerny" of the organ.
