a| "Recently, I exchanged a beautiful edition of Thomas Mace's Musick's Monument for an even more beautiful one, once owned by Friedemann Hellwig and Natalie Dolmetsch (perhaps emanating from the collection of Arnold Dolmetsch?)" (Koopman 2016, 675); a letter corroborating the provenance is added to the volume

a| Inserted documents bear witness of the interesting provenance history of this copy: Medievalist Robert Steele (1860-1944) offered the book to Nathalie Dolmetsch, a gambist (1905-1989) and the daughter of early music pioneer Arnold Dolmetsch (1858-1940). After her passing, her daughter Marie-Thérèse offered it to Friedemann Hellwig (°1938, Restorer of historical musical instruments) to whom Nathalie was a "Patentante". In 2015 Friedemaan offered the copy to Ton Koopman as a birthday gift.
