a| Johan de Crane belonged to a not inconsiderable family, that flourished for a long time in Zeeland. He was born February 23rd 1676, and after good school and academy education, on March 13th 1696 became a minister, he was called to Nisse, and confirmed there April 7th 1697, from where he left for Oostkapelle in 1703. His health forced him to ask for an honorable resignation in 1727, which was granted. After that time he lived in Middelburg, but still frequently visited the pulpit, both there and in his last congregation; he even had the rare privilege of being able to confirm his six successors in Oostkapelle over a period of nineteen years. He died in Middelburg on the 31st of December 1746.
