a| Guido Bentivoglio d'Aragona was an Italian cardinal, statesman and historian. He was an ecclesiastical diplomat at the court of the Archdukes Albert and Isabella in the Habsburg Netherlands (1607-1615), Bentivoglio was considered a lover of art and music. Immediately after his arrival in Flanders, he had the organist and composer Girolamo Frescobaldi (1583-1643) come to Brussels from Ferrara, where he was a celebrated musician and, with Bentivoglio's help, published his madrigals in Antwerp in 1608. It is considered certain that Bentivoglio also had contact with the artists there, such as Rubens.
