a| Hentschel (1804-1875) quickly gained an excellent reputation as a music and mathematics teacher. In 1831 and 1833 he organised men's singing festivals in Weißenfels. He was the editor and co-founder, together with the musician Ludwig Erk, of the journal Euterpe and wrote several weighty pedagogical works.
