a| Gysbert Japicx or Japiks (1603-1666) is the best-known Frisian writer of the seventeenth century, somewhat the Frisian Vondel or Bredero. He is considered the founder of Frisian as a written language, but was long overshadowed by Jan Jansz. Starter. This collection contains 'Fryske Tsjerne' (1639), a wedding poem about a middle-aged peasant who can sing well.
