a| The so-called 'Stukjesboek', which formed the basis of the old Catholic church song in the Netherlands: 98 songs in Latin and Dutch, plus three ordinaria in Latin. Strong Jansenist influence.

a| Missen en Gezangen is not the only para-liturgical hymnbook that the Utrecht Church had after the schism of 1723.Some of the material it contains had already been published in Het Paradijs, which appeared in eight editions between 1621 and 1679 in Antwerp, or in Het Prieel, Brugues 1609/l0. Also the collection of Gulielmus de Swaen, parish priest in Gouda, to which he gave the name Den Singende Swaen'[, -an allusion to his own name, which means 'swan', - contains pieces that can be found in Missen en Gezangen. Of a substantial part, however, the origin remains obscure. No doubt a large repertoire of Latin and Dutch hymns was known from the rather isolated milieu of the Utrecht church. It is even possible that the type of hymns found in Missen en Gezangen and the other collections mentioned, were cherished by the secular clergy and that their use was discouraged, more or less, by the regulars. It is at least curious that in the Old Catholic Church an abundance of hymns have survived, while they are relatively rare in the Roman Catholic Church parishes in Friesland and northern Holland.

a| Jean Baptiste Stalpa(e)rt van der Wiele(n) (1579 - 1630), a lawyer in The Hague in 1598, became a priest in 1606. In 1613 he was appointed parish priest in Delft, where he remained until his death. In 1621 he published "Hemelrijk", in 1622 "Het vrouwelick cieraed van St Agnes", religious poetry. In prose he published "Roomsche Reys" in 1624, and in 1628 a collection of hymns "'tGulden Jaer ons'Heeren Jesu Christi". As a posthumous work he published "Extractum Catholicum" and "Guide Jaers Feestdaghen of de Schat der gheestelijekeLofsanghen", in 1631 and 1634. He was the composer of about 2000 hymns.
