a| Adriaan Loosjes (1761-1818) was a botanist, poet, novelist and publisher. He wrote several books and plays, and translated historical works from English into Dutch. In 1789 he started the Haarlem department of the scientific society Maatschappij tot Nut van 't Algemeen.
