a| song by a female composer, a member of the Ukrainian princely family Kotschoubey. Princess Elisabeth Vassilievna Kotschoubey (née Kotschoubey) (1821-1897) was a well known composer of both Russian and French popular songs in Russia and later in France. She was married to her third cousin, Prince Leon Viktorovitch Kotschoubey (1810-1890) and they died childless.

a| Enrico Tamberlik (16 March 1820 – 13 March 1889) was an Italian tenor who sang to great acclaim at Europe and America's leading opera venues. He excelled in the heroic roles of the Italian and French repertories and was renowned for his powerful declamation and clarion high notes.

a| Text writer Larmande was a French state official (chef de bureau au Ministère des Finances), and amateur poet. Known for translating German songs, or rather for providing them with new, French poetry, e.g. in the series Échos d'Allemagne, together with Victor Wilder. His official signature (e.g. on his appointment as Chevalier de la légion d'honneur in 1881) always reads "Ad. Larmande", and his brother Alfred Larmande and sister-in-law Sophie Desargues were professional musicians.
