a| André Jaspar was a Belgian composer and conductor. He studied cello with the priest Ferdinand Harzeus, and later performed as a cellist in the semi-amateur string quartets of Liège. In 1821-1826 he was in charge of the music school, which was dissolved due to the opening of the Liège Conservatoire in 1827; Jaspar refused the position of professor of solfeggio offered to him at the Conservatoire. From 1830 he performed in Liège as an orchestral and choral conductor.
