a| Knouse, ‘The Music of the Moravian Church in America’ p. 140 - Rare (only traceable via KVK in Germany in the Augsburg University Library) - ‘Excerpt from the older chorale book from 1778’ with melodies ‘which are still used either at the meetings of the Moravian Church or by the trombone choir in the various parishes. In order to facilitate the playing of the chorales as much as possible, the complete chorales have not only been provided with the written-out parts in addition to the usual numbering, but have also been transferred from the already outdated and less well-known descant clef to treble clef’ (from the preface).- Niesky, today a small town in the district of Görlitz in Upper Lusatia, was only founded in 1742 as a colony of the Moravian Church.
