- The text takes the form of a verse dialogue between Joseph and Potiphar's wife, derived from the story in the Biblical book of Genesis, focusing on the themes of Self-control, Love, Virtues and Vices, as part of the Dutch Social life and customs in the 17th century.
Decorated title page vignet, engraved frontispiece, and two engraved illustrations. Three illustrations are designed by A. van Venne. The first four are signed by their engravers - F. Schillemans, 'TO'?, 'PS' and [illegible]. The title-page vignette and other decorations are unsigned. The first illustration shows Joseph and Potiphar's wife; the second is an allegory (an animal lying within a circle of stones); the third illustration is cut out: it showed a man and woman walking with musicians; the fourth illustration is cut out: it showed a woman being served a meal; the fifth shows a woman with a churn.
Incomplete: pages 49-50 and 63-64 are missing (cut out for the illustrations)
