Nota:
This play is depicted in a painting by Cornelis Troost (1738) and has a sequel featuring Jan Klaasz en Saartje Jans: 'Kraam-bedt, of Kandeel-maal van Saartje Jans, van Jan Klaazen' (1684), in which the male protagonist is unfaithful
The title-page contains the motto "Perseveranter", the competitor to "Nil volentibus arduum" (also at the Amsterdam Stadsschouwburg) and Jacob van Rijndorp's "Nulla quies" (The Hague and Leiden)
Piece in Amsterdam dialect, with allusions to local spots, such as the "Koorenbeurs," "Moorjaanen," and "Dirk van Assensteeg"
The opening scene suggests singing (Lyntje's "Tsa! Trompoen Trompetten", which Diwertje refers to in the following scene as "zingen")
