Vincenzo Manfredini followed his brother to St. Petersburg, where he became maestro di cappella at court. He was harpsichord teacher of Pavel Petrovich (son of Catherine the Great), heir to the Russian throne. This volume is dedicated to his former pupil.
The first part of this book is about music in general, the second part is about keyboard accompaniment or continuo playing.
Contains a portrait of Pavel Petrovich (as a young man or teenager) by Antonio Baratti.
