In the first half of the eighteenth century, it was not unusual to bring together mock poems by several poets in one publication. In 1707, Johannes de Raat from Schiedam came out with a volume of mock poetry that was somewhat supplemented and modified over time, and three years later the final eleven-volume series Nederduitse en Latynse keurdigten started, a series that, at least according to the colophon, was published from 1710 until the 1730s by Pieter vander Goes (pseudonym of Johannes van Leeuwen) in Rotterdam, later in Utrecht and finally Rotterdam again.
