- Nota:
- Pietro Cerone (1566–1625) was an Italian music theorist, singer and priest of the late Renaissance. His enormous treatise offers a summa of polyphonic compositional practices in the 16th century.
One of Koopman's favorite items in his collection (see Koopman 2016, 675: "Pietro Cerone's El melopeo y maestro, which was printed in Naples in 1613, in an edition of 1,500 books. Soon after publication, 1,200 of them were lost at sea as the ship that was transporting them to Spain perished.")
On top of title page one reads the motto: "QUID ULTRA QUAERIS?" - Permalink:
