Nota:
Slevogt was born at the end of the 17th century (details conspicuously unknown) in Jena, where he studied, received his doctorate in 1716 and devoted himself to the practice of law. He died in February 1732 as a ducal Altenburg court and government advocate and imperial comes palatinus, but left behind a heavy burden of debt, so that his family declined completely. Slevogt's writings belong mainly to Protestant canon law, which they treat sometimes historically-archaeologically, sometimes practically. His German work on the law of the altars combines both points of view with a mildly reasonable appreciation and toleration of all ceremonial activity.
