- Forwarded as a set of youthful sins, when Marcello was deeply in love, these sonnets were originally read at an 'adunanza' of the Arcadian Academy, which gave Marcello the permission to publish them under his Arcadian pseudonym (see disclaimer at p. [v]). The second sonnet, "O sacro de le muse alto restauro," addresses the Academy's 'custode generale', Giovanni Mario Crescimbeni (Alfesibeo Cario P.A.).
