Wilhelmus Schortinghuis (1700-1750) was a Dutch Reformed clergyman. He is best known for his book 'Het Inninge Christendom' (1740) and the "vijf nieten" (the five nots): "ik wil niet, ik kan niet, ik weet niet, ik heb niet en ik deug niet" (I don't want to, I can't, I don't know, I don't have and I'm no good), with which he wanted to make clear. that a man could contribute nothing to his salvation. He is regarded as a representative of the late phase of the 'Nadere Reformatie', which is often referred to as Reformed Pietism.
