Saint Leodegar (c. 616-678) was abbot of the Saint-Maixent, counselor to Queen Bathildis, martyred Burgundian Bishop of Autun, and supporter of King Childerik IILeodegar of Poitiers . Leodegar was an opponent of Ebroin, the Frankish Mayor of the Palace of Neustria, and the leader of the faction of Burgundian nobles. His torture and death made him a martyr and saint.
