- Nota:
- Luigi Lablache was an Italian opera singer of French and Irish ancestry. He was most noted for his comic performances, possessing a powerful and agile bass voice, a wide range, and adroit acting skills: Leporello in Don Giovanni was one of his signature roles.
Lablache's Méthode complète de chant published by him in Paris, had little success during his lifetime. A German-French parallel edition was also published by B. Schott's Söhne in Mainz. Several of his singing schools were republished decades after his death by Franz Haböck, singing professor at the Vienna Academy of Music.
an edition was published by Ricordi in 2006 based on the revised Italian version of 1842, which points to the continuing relevance and importance of this work for vocal training and musical interpretation. Lablache's Méthode complète de chant thus remains a key textbook for anyone wishing to study classical vocal technique and interpretation, especially the repertoire of the early 19th century. - Permalink:
