- Quirinus van Blankenburg (1654-1739) wrote his psalter around 1725. With his arrangements, he aimed to modernise the old psalm melodies to the tonality of the Italian basso-continuo style predominant in his time. It remains partly unclear why not this manuscript but a musically less pioneering and simpler version was published in 1732.
