Nota:
There is a set of separate vocal parts for 8 of the Psalms bound in with the score, between pages 6 and 7. The edition of the score is quite 'clean' in contrast to the separate vocal parts that not only have been converted to more modern smaller note values but also contain a lot of editorial dynamics, phrasings and other performance suggestions.
Cornelis Boscoop was a Dutch composer and organist of the Oude Kerk in Amsterdam, so a predecessor of Sweelinck. The 50 Psalm settings are his only surviving work. It was first published in 1562 (now lost?), this modern edition is based on a set of part books printed in Dusseldorf in 1568.
The texts are derived from the Souterliedekens, a well known Dutch translation/version of Psalm texts. Musically there is no connection to the Souterliedekens, Boscoop made his own melodies and compositions.
